Man Utd ready to beat Barcelona to 21yo striker

Manchester United are determined to beat Barcelona in the race to sign Levante striker Etta Eyong during the winter transfer window, according to Sport.

The Red Devils signed a new marksman in Benjamin Sesko over the summer. He has made a good impression with two goals in the Premier League.

Joshua Zirkzee is the immediate backup in the current squad, but the Dutchman is determined to move on in January amid his lack of minutes.

Everton and West Ham United are keen on landing the Netherlands international, and he could secure a permanent move in the New Year.

Amids this, United are lining up an approach for Eyong, who has bagged five goals and provided three assists for Levante in La Liga this term.

The 21-year-old has turned heads in La Liga and has recently emerged as a top target for Barcelona. They are reportedly eyeing a summer deal.

United, on the other hand, are eyeing a winter move and seem prepared to pay close to the reported €30 million release clause for the striker.
