Chelsea identify two defensive targets for January

Chelsea to sign new centre-back?

Chelsea have identified a couple of targets to bolster their central defence during the January transfer window.

The Blues have had a decent start to the Premier League campaign, and they have picked up 10 points after seven games played.

They recently registered a statement win over Liverpool despite the fact that they were without several injured centre-backs.

Tosin Adarabioyo, Levi Colwill and Wesley Fofana were sidelined for the game, while Trevoh Chalobah was suspended.

Benoit Badiashile and Josh Acheampong started against the Reds, but they also picked up injuries during yesterday’s clash.

Chelsea ended the contest with Reece James and Jorrel Hato in the heart of the defence.

Football.london now claim that the Blues could sign a new centre-back when the transfer window reopens in January.

Barcelona star Ronald Araujo and Nottingham Forest ace Murillo have been earmarked as potential candidates to fill the void.

Araujo signed a new contract earlier this year, but he has a low release clause worth €65m in his Blaugrana contract.

The Blues are watching his situation carefully and could make a formal approach for his services at the turn of the year.
