Enyimba forward Edidiong Ezekiel has expressed delight after finding the back of the net in his team’s 2–0 victory over Kano Pillars in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Matchday 11 clash.

Taking to his social media handle on Sunday, November 2, 2025, the Nigeria U23 international celebrated the moment, writing:

“Happy to get a goal⚽️ as Enyimba FC powered past Kano Pillars 2-0!

What a way to kick off November ⚽

Cheers to the 11th Month

#EnyimbaFC #E14 #KingJesusIsAlive #NPFL”

The goal marked Edidiong’s second of the season since joining Enyimba from Akwa United FC. Interestingly, he is no stranger to scoring against Kano Pillars, having found the net against them three seasons ago while playing for Dakkada FC.

Enyimba’s win was a much-needed boost for the People’s Elephant, ending their five-match winless run in the NPFL.

The Aba giants took the lead in the 29th minute through John Bassey, who headed home a cross to spark celebrations among the home fans. Moments later, Edidiong doubled the lead after capitalising on a defensive mistake, rounding Pillars goalkeeper Abuchi before calmly slotting home for Enyimba’s second.

It was Enyimba’s first win since their 2–1 triumph over Bendel Insurance on September 21, easing pressure on coach Stanley Eguma, whose side had struggled for form in recent weeks.

For Kano Pillars, the defeat deepened their woes. The Sai Masu Gida are enduring a turbulent season, marked by a three-point deduction and a home ban following crowd trouble. New Technical Adviser Muhammad Babaganaru remains winless after two matches in charge.

Elsewhere, Abia Warriors climbed to the top of the NPFL table with a 2–1 win over Niger Tornadoes, while Rivers United edged Nasarawa United 1–0 in Port Harcourt to return to winning ways.

Enyimba will hope to build on the momentum when they face 3SC in their next league outing.
